This is a research trial being run from the University of Glasgow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It is to assess the use of a new treatment of depression called Bouldering Psychotherapy which will be provided at Above Adventure Climbing Centre in Kilmarnock.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bouldering Psychotherapy was shown to be as good as CBT in European research.\u00a0 This trial is to see if it also works (and should be available) in the UK.\u00a0 It is a 10-weekly-sessions group treatment where you will develop skills for overcoming your depression.\u00a0 The underpinning idea, that depression is fuelled by self-criticism and inactivity, is part of standard CBT treatments.\u00a0 In Bouldering Psychotherapy this is worked upon in group sessions and learning from this is put into practice while bouldering and then subsequently in homework assignments.\u00a0 You do not need a high level of physical fitness to benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If you choose this option, you will receive an assessment and then need to wait for 2-6 weeks or so to start treatment<\/p>\n\n\n\n
