We have secured funding from the Robertson Trust to run a project called Breaking Bread.
This project will help individuals suffering from anxiety to integrate into their community by increasing their skills and widening their social group.
Individuals will learn how to make bakery products and even sell the products through our deli located on platform 1 at the station. Counselling and Health and wellbeing activity will also be available to support the participants
Why not try one of our new baking experience days! This fun and informal baking lesson will take place in our newly refurbished training bakery kitchen here at Kilmarnock Station Community Village. Join one of our classes where you can meet new like-minded friends or why not book as a small group to celebrate a special occasion. Don your apron, roll up your sleeves and join us for a 5-hour baking masterclass, complete with light lunch and optional fizz package.
Your day will begin at 10am where you will be greeted by our resident baking expert. They will begin by introducing a few ingredients and demonstrating some of the techniques you will be using. Next, it is your turn! At your fully equipped workstation, you will learn to mix, knead, shape, and bake a selection of different rolls and loaves. These will vary from class to class but can include crusty white loaves, focaccia, ciabatta, and hot cross buns. Our Baker will be on hand to offer tips throughout, and while your dough proves, you will enjoy a light lunch. When the lesson concludes, all finished breads are yours to keep, and you will also receive a recipe booklet to take home so that you can wow your family & friends with your newfound baking skills. Prices start from £60.
